Busking on the Toon!!!

So heres the Story! On tuesday afternoon tez rang and asked if I wanted to go for a walk around the toon (newcastle) later with our cameras to get some photos of the quayside by night with my guitar in hand , which sounded like a plan!! Some busking shots was the idea .. but the next thing that came into my mind was the hefty fines for busking in newcastle.. SO!! .. while waiting on terry I decided to give newcastle council a ring and see how to go about getting allowance to busk around the town centre. Within a 3 minute phonecall everything was sorted and a big thanks to newcastle council and steve patterson for this and also for sending me the info by mail!

So I was all set for busking.. and terry turned up with his squeaky brakes dead on time and off we went to the quayside in the freezin cold with our wooly hats and scarfs on!

After deciding to pull the guitar out down next to the bridge for some photos.. I ran through some songs while shaking to death as terry ran round me like a mad man with the camera..

After 10 minutes or so a bunch of women appeared and hovered round for a bit listening while i chattered some songs while trying to feel my fingers.. they then came over and asked if they could take their photos with me , so over they came huddled up for some pics!! And here they are

Terry screamed about the website and being able to pick up the photos he was taking from there too, and i dropped the gals a CD and in exchange i got a nice crisp sky diver (Fiver) ..Woohoooooooooooooooo!!.. Thanks again for that!!

Me n Terry then decided to pack up after the 15 minutes busking and find the nearest chippy to get rid of our winnings and try to thaw our bodys out whilst scoffing our faces!! That is after he decided to climb something and get his ass out !!

BRING ON THE SUMMER!! I cant wait to try more busking doon the toon!! hahahhahahahah

After the chipshop we went for a play around some strange creepy places with the cameras and a 50p laser light and ended up with some mad pics!! Heres the creepy place we found….

Acoustic Magicians!!

Ok … so some of you might already of seen me live or know that ive been doing a lot of acoustic gigs with the ACOUSTIC MAGIC team.. if you havent , I thought id give you all a little heads up on who they are and what the nights are about…..

Acoustic Magic is a great idea that was put into place buy Good Ol’ Derek from CLEAR BLUE SKIES. The plan is to put together the cream of local talented musicians and have them all playing on one night, one after another in every venue possible across the country in order to promote there own material.

The nights consist of anywhere from 4 to 6 acoustic musicians all playing time slots one after another of 30-40 mins or until the night comes to an end.. and the music becomes a wide range of styles and material.

The guys who run the show are Derek and Hairy from the band Clear Blue Skies ,who do a great job scouting for gigs ,running the nights and also doing a set in there somewhere at every gig too….. they also push local musicians to play original material at these gigs which is great for upcoming musicians!!

So far i’ve done at least 8 or 9 gigs with these guys and have played some of the most enjoyable nights ive had gigging because of the humour, great atmosphere, playing in some great venues i would never have played in and meeting some great musicians to share the stage with,including US Rocker Adam Bomb, Steve Daggett, Hague, Simon Todd, Garry featherstone, Daisy Windsor, and Micky Oliver…. not to mention the Clear Blue Skies guys themselves..

Bloggin away! The Beginning of it all….

Hey all … as this is the first blog from www.shagpile.org , im gona give you a quick introduction and tell you whats been happening lately.. First of all .. im shaggy .. an acoustic solo/singer songwriter from NE England and my home page is as youve probably guessed … www.shagpile.org… and im starting this blog to basically keep people upto date whats happening with my music and gigs and any other happenings related to the solo music stuff and also to remind me of whats happened..as bad memory syndrome seems to be happening a lot to me lately..hahahahha.

So… a couple of things thats been happening lately..

ALBUM RELEASE & CDBABY!!

The release of my first album which is called “Finding Yourself” has now went up for sale on CDBABY which is great news, so all of you who were asking for downloads rather than posting out a cd . This is now available and will be also available over the digital ditribution deal I signed up for across 10 different companies.. the main ones being “iTunes” “Napster” “Amazon” and so on.. so hopefully this should get my music a bit more scope than usual over the upcoming months as each one becomes available! Ok .. couple of gigs im really lookin forward to which ive landed lately.. BUBBLES IN ASHINGTON – Supporting MILES HUNT-formely from the band “The Wonderstuff” on the 21st of December .. Which i cant wait for..

BUBBLES IN ASHINGON – Supporting ROD CLEMENTS formerly from the band LINDISFARNE on the 29th of March next year which is gona be another great gig!!

Also lots of gigs with ACOUSTIC MAGIC courtesy of CLEAR BLUE SKIES coming up right througout this year and the next ,which il tell you all about in the next blog…..
